| Thanks Petra by Matthew, Lynden, Washington, USA
My wife got me started on Petra years ago. My life has changed so much
since then. Now I am on fire for Christ. To John, thank you for
praying with Karla when you were in Lynden, WA in 1999. It provided a
second wind for her to keep praying for me when I was lost. To Bob,
thank you for pushing so hard over the years to keep Petra going and the
dedication to Christ.
To Greg, thank you for being a part of Petra and your encouragement. To Paul, thank you for being a part of Petra also, and saying that I needed to get a drum set when you were in Vancouver, WA. (My wife and I are talking about it). Wherever the Lord may send you on your path, may He keep you and bless you for the many years of outstanding music and songs of praise. I hope that again we may cross paths again through ministry. Thank you and keep the faith even when you are down for He will lift you higher.
For My strength is made perfect in weakness. (2 Cor. 12:9)

| Responding to a
question by Gavin, Perth, Western Australia
Just
responding to your question Dr. Mark said, "on the air" about what
www.aroundtheworldradio.org
means to listeners!
I've just
started listening to AT World Radio because I heard you were playing
Petra all month. Petra is an awesome band!! Main reason for liking them
so much is their no-nonsense lyrics ... 'Sermon in Song' ... each song
is bascially a mini-sermon. The fact you are prepared to play Petra for
a whole month tells me you also hold dear the quality of the lyrics!!
God Bless!

| Each New CD Song! | |
|
by Jeff, Tampa, FL I have been listening to them for years, since I was 10, now I'm 33! So many of Petra's songs have ministered to me at so many different times in my life. Each new cd opens up more and more different and unique ways of being ministered to, and fresh real ways of being a Christian. Petra has never been stuffy religion, but has always been about REAL relationships with Christ. Petra has always made being a Christian fun, and really shown that the Christian walk was meant to be an abundant life, full of excitement and power." Jeff (and Carla), Tampa, FL

| Love the Song "Graverobber" by Kazz, Darlington, Western Austrailia
Thanks again for playing a whole month of
Petra!
I have been a Petra fan since about 1988. In
recent years I have set my mind to finding all of their CD's - I have
ordered most from the USA, as they are getting harder to find in
Australia. I now have all of their CD's (including compilations) except
for the first one. I also have 3 CD's they appear on, Project Damage
Control, Never Say Dinosaur, Greg X Volz first solo album and John's 2
solo albums.
Petra are always encouraging and I love the
fact that many of their lyrics are God's truths - direct from Scripture.
I can't tell you how many times these songs have lifted me up when I was
down, always pointing me in the right direction...
I have always loved the song "Graverobber"
but it has taken on a stronger meaning since my mum passed away three
years ago. Because of what Christ has achieved the devil has no victory
in the temporary condition of death and the seperation that results from
it. In the end we win, in Christ, we have already won.
Any chance of playing "Grave Robber" from
the new CD?

The Petra band has been a great leader in the contemporary
Christian music field for four decades. Also they have been soul winners
for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. |

| Parents Took Me to
Petra, and first concert I remember!
by Johnathan, Lexington, KY I was born in 1972! Yes I am old. I saw Petra in the 70's at Icthus. My parents were actually the people to introduce me to the band. But there taste was different and only the slow songs they liked. My fathers favorite was the Coloring Song. My mothers was the doxology, and This Means War! I really think that the later was to make me think that she was cool! They are. I have to say if it wasn't for my parents I would never have known Petra. I was adopted and thank the Lord for that. So really all of Petra's music somehow affects my heart and soul. People say "Petra" I don't like them. Well to me Petra was always real. No sugar coating it. That is why Petra is so special and I always say just listen to the words,go to a concert and listen. Petra had the guts to say it the way that people need to here it. Well. the first Petra concert I remember was like 1987 the This Means War tour in Louisville, Kentucky. I had asked for a Bible for my birthday, that is all I wanted. Well I was looking up some scripture and my mother was like (for the life of me I can't remember what chapter she told me to go to but) look in that chapter and the was two Petra tickets! Wow! Well I went to that concert and that is when I really became a pethead! I remember having the tapes at school and always being proud of having a band as cool as Petra around. Sure we had the bands like Stryper, D&K, and so on but I keep saying there was something special about the ministry of Petra. People I went to school with when I see them are like do you still listen to Petra? And I am like of course. My brothers and probably the rest of my family are so tired of hearing about Petra. I had the chance to be at the Farewell taping and I told him and his wife that it was not just the music it is the Ministry and they are men after HIS own heart and they just love to tell People about CHRIST! That is the real reason that I love there music so much.
A few years ago my friend bought a guitar off of Quinton Gibson and we got to spend some time with the band. It was cool. Meagan had never listened to Christian music and she digs Petra. Darron and I did a remake of Graverobber and I really loved being a part of that. We have met numerous people from the Petrazone, and at the Farewell taping it was just like being with family/ I can honestly say whatever band has been like that. Sue Dempster (John's manager) has been such a blessing to us! I do want to ask something of you guys. I get alot and I mean alot of kidney stones and I am usually faithfull I just want you all to Pray over this for me. I Love the Lord with all my heart and want to serve Him and know that there is something Huge that He has in store for my life. Or else Satan would not attack so much. So pray that I will stay strong. |

| All Fired UP Wedding! | |
|
by Tom, www.OmegaForceBand.com
Awesome! I have so much to say but not enough time to write 20+ years worth of memories. I will name a few... My wife and I got married in August of 1991. For our recessional, when my Dad**, the Pastor, said...I now present to you Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Rea, we played Petra's "Fired Up". Everybody was in shock but we didn't care. We were making a statement of who we were in Christ.\
I had an opportunity to buy one of John Lawry's "Lync Systems" keyboards
(The one that you wear). I still have it by the way.
One of the greatest times of all times (next to the powerful alter calls they had in all their concerts) was my band "Omega Force" opening up for them in September 2004. It was an honor. There is so much more but I have to go.
"Petra" will always be remembered and my prayers are with you as you
move into a new season of God's direction.
**My dad (Rev. Edwin A. Rea) was the pastor of Path-Way Church Of God
in downtown Pontiac (corner of University & Wide Track) for 20 years. He
past away on January 20, 1999 (just 2 days before my birthday). He had
just preached a funeral in Pontiac on Monday (Jan 19th) and drove to
Alabama on Tuesday (Jan 20th) to preach the funeral again. "Great!!! I've never felt better" At that moment, he slumped over from a heart attack. My father was a great role model for me. He was the same man off
stage as he was on stage. He supported me and the Christian rock band I
had formed (Playing at first, covers from Petra, D&K, Mylon
& Broken Heart, & David & The Giants (just to name a few), then going on
to our own music. It wasn't his style but he saw the fruit it bared and
supported Thanks Dad. |
